“On June 4, during the retreat from the city of Svyatogorsk of the Donetsk People’s Republic of the units of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian nationalists set fire to the wooden monastery of All Saints of the Land of the Russian Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra,” the statement says.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that Russian troops are not conducting combat operations in this area and are not shelling the territory of the historical and architectural reserve.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that a major fire as a result of hostilities began in the All Saints Skete of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra in the DPR.
