An American had the happy surprise of discovering 36,000 dollars (approximately 33,400 euros) buried in the cushions of a sofa given away for free on a classifieds site.
But this resident of Colton, near Los Angeles, hastened to return the money to its owners.

Vicky Umodu was looking to furnish her new place for a small fee and she was happy to find this sofa.
"I just moved in and I have nothing in the house," she told local channel ABC7.
But once at her home, the Californian found a suspicious bump in one of the cushions.
She then discovered several envelopes filled with cash, each containing thousands of dollars.
“I said to my son “come, come!”.
I was screaming 'it's money! I have to call the gentleman,'” she said.

Vicky Umodu therefore contacted those who had given her the sofa to inform them of her find and return the money to them.
The family, who were emptying the house of a recently deceased relative, replied that they did not know anything about the presence and origin of this money.
But to thank the Good Samaritan, they gave her over $2,000, enough to buy the new refrigerator she needed!
