Macron: Putin made a "historic and fundamental mistake" and is "isolated"

French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, made a "strategic and fundamental mistake" by attacking Ukraine, and that he is "isolated".

"I think, and I told him so, that he made a historic and fundamental mistake against his people, against himself and against history," Macron said in an interview with the regional French press.

"I think he has isolated himself," he said on the 100th day of the conflict. "Knowing how to get out of it is a difficult path."

The French president reiterated that "Russia must not be humiliated so that on the day the fighting stops, we can find a way out through diplomatic channels."

In response to his question about the possibility of visiting Kyiv, like many of his European counterparts, he replied, "Currently, I do not rule out anything."

"We want to increase financial and military support for Ukraine. To do everything we can to get the grain out of Ukraine," he said, contradicting Russian President Vladimir Putin, who considered the export of grain from the neighboring country "not a problem."

He also indicated that the quantities of Caesar cannons delivered by France to the Ukrainian army would be "compensated".

And Macron added in this regard, "I have asked our industrialists to speed up the production of weapons, the question is not only to renew our stocks, but also to strengthen our independence."
