An American human rights organization has filed a complaint against the McDonald's chain of restaurants, accusing it of discrimination, after one of its restaurants intentionally served pork to a Muslim family.

And according to a report published by the "Associated Press" (Associated Press), workers in a restaurant belonging to the chain in Massachusetts intentionally put pork chips on a "sandwich" ordered by the Muslim mother of her twins.

The organization "Council on American-Islamic Relations" (CAIR) said that it submitted a file complaining of discrimination against Ms. Ghadeer Al-Ahmar to the Massachusetts Commission against Discrimination.

The complaint stated that "Islam forbids eating pork, but McDonald's workers intentionally added it to the complainant's food, in an attempt to harm and insult her and her children."

According to CARE's lawyer, Barbara Duggan, the complaint is a first step in obtaining financial compensation.

The organization is also working on prompting McDonald's decision to train its employees in an appropriate manner to avoid such accidents in the future.

Circumstances of the accident

The sandwich was served to the complainant in June of last year at a restaurant in Bechkobe, 80 miles from Boston.

"McDonald's made me and my children feel unwanted and worthless by stuffing a fish sandwich with pork chips for no other reason than punishing us for our religion and belief," Ghadeer said in a statement.

She added, "This act has harmed us, and made my children wonder if they are welcome in their country. They also asked me: Do they hate us?", adding, "How can I answer such a question?"
