A serious road accident occurred this Thursday, in the middle of the afternoon, in the town of La Chambre (Savoie).
Two cars arriving face to face collided on a secondary road, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m.
A hospitalized motorist
Only one person was on board each vehicle, according to information from
Dauphiné
.
Immediately, an important rescue device involving firefighters, a Samu crew and gendarmes was mobilized.
One of the motorists, a 65-year-old man, died at the scene from his serious injuries.
Rescuers couldn't do anything.
The other driver, 82, was seriously injured.
He was rushed to hospital in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
Traffic was cut on the departmental in both directions during the intervention.
