In London and the UK, the first day of the Platinum Jubilee came to a happy end.

The 70 years of reign of Elizabeth II are celebrated until Sunday evening.

The Queen of England returned to her Windsor Castle, about thirty kilometers from London, after appearing on the balcony on Thursday.

“She is what makes us proud to be British”

This Thursday, the festivities started with the military parade and the aerial parade, in the middle of an impressive crowd.

Lorraine and two of her friends, who arrived at 8:30 a.m. wearing festive hats and flocked “Jubilee” t-shirts, weren't even able to access the giant screens to watch the festivities.

The three friends finally followed the ceremony on their phones.

We don't miss any royal event, and we've never seen so many people.

I was even there at the coronation, even though I was too young to remember!

Usually we come the day before and camp in the street, but we get too old.

Yes, we're disappointed, but it's not going to spoil our party.

"If it's William, the monarchy will survive"

The government speaks of "over 200,000 local events and block parties" across the UK over the four days.

Nick, an Australian now living in London, is less enthusiastic.

His country, despite its continental scale and its remoteness, has no head of state other than the Queen of England, either.

It's good for them to have come this far, but if there was a small revolution, I would support it.

Australians, we're very relaxed, so we won't do anything until "Liz" is gone.

But after that, I think we will become a Republic.

The rest of the royal family doesn't really interest us.
