The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the death of a 38-year-old hiker who this Thursday morning fell into the sea from the via ferrata of Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Girona).
He has fallen from a height of 15 meters into the water in an area close to the rock and difficult to access.
That is why the emergency services have set up a specific device to access the ropeway and Salvamento Marítimo activated a small boat to approach the cove.
Once the body was recovered, the Firefighters performed resuscitation maneuvers on him in the area of the rocks since he had vital signs but weak.
That is why he was transferred to the port of Sant Feliu, but there a doctor from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) certified his death.
The Firefighters of the Generalitat received the emergency notification at 6:33 a.m. from a person who saw the body in the sea and have transferred five crews, together with Maritime Rescue, four Mossos d'Esquadra patrols, three SEM units and troops from the local police.
A helicopter and several boats were also activated.
The Mossos have launched an investigation to find out the causes of the incident.
