His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, issued a law establishing the "Dubai Media Council", with the aim of unifying media efforts in the emirate to adopt a comprehensive vision and an effective strategy at the local, regional and international media levels, and to develop a strategy Media To enhance Dubai's media position to become a leading center at the local, regional and global levels.

His Highness also issued a decree appointing His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, and a decree forming the Dubai Media Council headed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, and the membership of: Mona Ghanem Al Marri as Vice President and Managing Director, Hala Yousef Badri, and Malik Sultan Al Malik, Abdullah Hamid Belhoul, Yunus Abdulaziz Al Nasser, Amal Ahmed bin Shabib, Issam Abdel Rahim Kazem, and Muhammad Suleiman Al Mulla, in addition to the Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, and the term of membership in the Council is three years, renewable for similar terms.

In addition, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, issued a decision appointing Nihal Badri as Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed that the Dubai Media Council looks forward to working with the media system in the emirate in light of the objectives set by the law establishing the council with the aim of improving the media message and the printed, audio, video and electronic content that is presented, in line with the emirate’s global position. Which soon becomes consolidated day after day with qualitative achievements in various fields, pointing out that the law marks the beginning of a new phase of media development in Dubai, in line with its development orientations and serving the strategic goals of the UAE.

His Highness called on members of the Dubai Media Council to work in accordance with the objectives contained in the law to reach the best desired results as soon as possible, stressing that the council will present new ideas and visions that contribute to bringing Dubai media to the ranks of the world through close cooperation with all concerned parties, taking into account the requirements of Media development and what it calls for doubling efforts in terms of adopting the latest technologies and preparing new ranks of qualified national media leaders to lead the modernization process, and discover the best talents and competencies capable of contributing in an effective way to bringing about a tangible and influential development in the media work process in Dubai.

Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, confirmed that the law sets out a number of important objectives for the council, including developing a system for measuring the efficiency of media channels and content, following up on the performance of the media strategy to ensure its success, and enhancing Dubai’s media competitiveness, in a way that supports its positive regional and international impact and supports Its national plans, introducing its success stories, enhancing its position as a major global center for young media talents, and supporting and developing Emirati media cadres.

She emphasized that the issuance of the law establishing the Dubai Media Council, including its objectives and the specific functions of the council, is consistent with the strategic objectives of Dubai and the UAE in general, in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and his constant keenness to make the media an authentic partner in The comprehensive cultural renaissance of the country, and a main supporter of the continuous achievements that Dubai is witnessing in various fields, emphasizing its global position and reaching the greater goal of making Dubai the best city in the world to live, work, invest and visit.

The law stipulates that, as of the date this law comes into force, the "Dubai Government Media Office" and the entities attached to it, and the "Dubai Media Corporation", and the "Dubai Media Corporation", should be attached to the Council, provided that the attached bodies retain their legal personality under the legislation establishing them or regulating their work, and carry out their duties And its powers entrusted to it under these legislations are under the financial and strategic supervision of the Council, provided that these tasks and powers do not conflict with the powers of the Council.

The law stipulates that the Dubai Media Council shall be the government agency concerned with the media sector in the Emirate of Dubai, which is uniquely representative of the emirate and its local authorities before the federal and local authorities in the state and regional and international organizations in all matters related to the media sector, and assumes the tasks and powers that enable it to achieve its goals, including :

The Dubai Media Council is also concerned with strengthening strategic relations with the local, regional and international media through establishing partnerships, reviewing fees and allowances for services provided by the bodies attached to the Council, and submitting the necessary recommendations in this regard to the competent authorities in the emirate in coordination with the concerned authorities, and approving media programmes, projects and initiatives aimed at consolidating the reputation of the emirate Maintaining its positive image, and supervising its implementation by the attached authorities.

The Dubai Media Council is also responsible for approving performance indicators for measuring the extent of commitment to implementing public policies and strategic plans related to the media sector, taking the necessary decisions in this regard, and coordinating and cooperating with the concerned federal and local authorities to provide information, data and statistics that serve the development of the media sector in the emirate, and the establishment of companies alone or jointly. With others, investing, participating, contributing, merging, or buying shares or shares in companies and institutions that conduct media activities or assisting him in achieving his goals inside and outside the country, in accordance with the legislation in force in the Emirate.The law obligates all government agencies, media institutions and other entities working in the media sector in the emirate, to cooperate fully with the council and the attached authorities, and to provide them with the documents, data, information, statistics and studies they request, and which are necessary to enable the council to achieve its goals and carry out the tasks entrusted to it under this law and the issued decisions pursuant to it and the legislation in force in the Emirate.
