The decisions were made in the social committee on May 25, to succeed with the staffing in the municipal care during the summer.

One decision concerns increased remuneration for staff who work during the main holiday, week 25-32.

Lowers the minimum age

The second decision is to lower the minimum age for employees to work with care recipients.

The municipality can now take in minors who study care and nursing at the upper secondary school, ie 16- and 17-year-olds.

- One purpose is that we want more hands in care, says the social committee's chairman Bo Ederström (M).

No medicine

However, teenagers are not allowed to work with tasks that require delegation, such as giving medicine.

The idea is that they will work in pairs.

- For practical reasons, it can work to some extent, but it is not intended to be solo work, he says.

We meet Bo Ederström (M) when he and member Ingela Rosen (S) visit Ryssby home service, an area that lacks three or four summer workers.
