The Darmstadt organic retail chain Alnatura will start its own delivery and collection service for online orders next week.

As the FAZ learned in advance, this is a pilot project, initially with three stores in Berlin. At the end of the month, the Frankfurt branches in Sachsenhausen (Hedderichstraße), Bockenheim (Leipziger Straße) and Eckenheim (Karl-von-Drais- street) with the delivery service out of the market.

The goods are picked, packed and delivered by company employees.

Project manager Philip Lange emphasizes that the concept differs "significantly" from other delivery services, where delivery is often made by independent couriers, after it became known the day before that Alnatura had entered into a cooperation with the fast delivery service Gorillas, which was controversial because of its working conditions.

According to the organic retailer, the minimum hourly wage at Alnatura is 13 euros above the statutory minimum wage.

Next day delivery

Deliveries are made - in paper bags - within a radius of 2.5 kilometers around the respective market.

Customers initially order via the Alnatura website, an app is planned.

On offer is the complete dry and fresh range of a market, including frozen products.

The range is gradually being expanded, especially with products from the respective region.

While the new delivery partner delivers gorillas within a short time after the order is placed, the Alnatura drivers only come by the day after the order is placed.

Two time windows between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. are possible.

The minimum order value is 29 euros.

Delivery costs 3.90 euros.

If you order for at least 59 euros, the goods will be delivered to your home free of charge.

Online orders can also be picked up in store.

The partner of the pilot project is the Swiss e-commerce start-up Farmy.
