At present, no permits are required to exhibit electric scooters for rent.
There is also no limit to how many there may be, but the municipality wants to see a change in that.
- We want there to be an upper limit on how many electric scooters can be exhibited, says Elin Nordenborg Hård, traffic engineer at Karlstad municipality.
One proposal is a maximum of 1,500 electric scooters in Karlstad.
The municipality also has a wish that each company should have a maximum of 300 electric scooters outside, but as long as no formal permit is required, they can neither control how many electric scooters each company has, nor limit the number.
Kept off on weekend nights
Unlike the companies that are already established, the electric scooters from this company will be switched off on weekend nights to reduce the risk of accidents.
- We see an increased risk of accidents on weekend nights and put safety first.
That's why we always turn off our scooters during these times.
