He was picked up by the municipal police after spending less than an hour on the run.

On Wednesday, a 31-year-old man was arrested as he tried to escape his trial scheduled for 3 p.m. before the Rennes criminal court.

Already known to justice, the defendant was to be tried there in immediate appearance for acts of violence, attempted extortion, damage and theft of a vehicle. Before his hearing, he would have asked to smoke a cigarette.

“He took the opportunity to escape the surveillance of the two police officers of the police escort who guarded him”, specifies Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes.

The man was found after an hour of searching by a crew of the municipal police while he was hiding near a construction site near the judicial city.

One of the municipal officers injured his hand climbing a fence in pursuit.

The fugitive was finally able to be tried as planned and was sentenced to twelve months in prison.

He was jailed after the hearing.

A fine of 500 euros was also pronounced.

As for his escape attempt, it will be judged later.
