A congratulatory post by the US embassy in Kuwait related to supporting homosexuality and the "LGBT community" sparked widespread anger in Kuwait, and parliamentarians demanded the embassy's apology.

The Kuwaiti newspaper said that "the statements of the members of the National Assembly reflected a state of outrage expressed by a number of deputies, and amounted to the embassy's demand for an apology, as it exceeded what is stipulated in diplomatic agreements regarding respect for the laws of the countries that host them."

This was in response to what the embassy published through its accounts on “Instagram” and “Twitter” when it published an excerpt from President Joe Biden’s sayings, attached to the flag of homosexuality.

The newspaper quoted Representative Abdul Karim Al-Kandari, “The publication by the US embassy of publications supporting homosexuality through its accounts is in violation of Article 41, Paragraph 1 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which obliges it to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving country, and it must delete what it published and apologize, and the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry should summon the charge d’affaires of the embassy and direct it. letter of protest to him.

Meanwhile, Representative Osama Al-Shaheen said that "foreign embassies should respect Kuwait's public order and its official religion."

He added that "the behavior of the US embassy is unacceptable," describing it as a "repeated departure from the principles of diplomatic work."

Representative Hamad Al-Matar said, "The challenge of the US embassy in Kuwait and its violation of international covenants by trying to impose abnormal behaviors rejected by the Kuwaiti Muslim community requires the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to play its role in taking measures towards it to prevent the recurrence of these popularly rejected provocations."

Representative Osama Al-Manawer also called on his country's foreign ministry to act "in the matter of the US embassy in Kuwait's promotion of homosexuality through its social media accounts."

Representative Muhannad Al-Sayer said: "Our foreign ministry's complacency with the American embassy in its promotion and support of homosexuality in contravention of our values ​​and laws is an acceptance of these abuses."

Representative Abdulaziz Al-Saqabi also called on his country’s foreign ministry to “not allow these absurd practices, for respecting our values ​​is a duty of all embassies, and it is at the core of diplomatic work.” and the values ​​and principles of society.

Representative Ahmed Mutee also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "summon the Chargé d'Affairs of the American Embassy", and called on the US Embassy to "publicly retract and apologize" for what he described as "blatant violations", and to delete "sinful publications that contradict the normal mushrooms and heavenly laws."
