The National Election Commission announced that as of 11 am today (1st), the turnout in the 8th nationwide local elections was counted at 12.0%.



Voting started at 6 am today at polling stations across the country, with 5,312,743 participating out of a total of 44.3 million 3,449 voters.



This is 3.7 percentage points lower than the turnout rate (15.7%) during the same time period as the 7th local election in 2018.



The region with the highest voter turnout so far is Gangwon (15.2%).



It was followed by Jeju (13.6%), Gyeongbuk/Gyeongnam (13.3%), Chungbuk/Chungnam (13.2%), and Ulsan (12.7%).



The lowest place was Gwangju with 7.8%, followed by Jeonbuk (10.3%), Sejong (10.4%), Incheon (11.0%), and Seoul (11.4%).



The early voting turnout (20.62%) held over the past two days from the 27th to the 28th will be reflected from the counting at 1pm.



Today's general voter election will be held until 6pm, and the Corona 19 confirmed election will be held from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
