In a post on her Facebook account, Oksana Leuta writes: "I am asked if all the safety rules had been respected (...) We followed an officially established route, with support, respecting all the rules".

"We wore bulletproof vests and helmets, we were equipped with first aid kits and tourniquets, in an armored humanitarian vehicle which had to evacuate civilians", adds the fixer.

"I will remember him as a sensitive, attentive, lively and dedicated person. His life was the price to pay for telling the truth about this war," she adds.

"His death is a terrible injustice. I deeply sympathize with Frédéric's friends and relatives. I understand and share your pain".

“I send my infinite gratitude and respect to those who accompanied us. One of them was injured. And to all those who continue to risk their lives bringing humanitarian aid and evacuating people” , she continues.

"Frédéric, we love you, we will never forget you, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that the guilty are punished. Rest in peace, dear friend", she concludes.

Ukraine: French journalist killed near Severodonetsk AFP

Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, a freelance journalist working for the French channel BFMTV, was killed on Monday in eastern Ukraine by shrapnel during a bombardment, while he was following a humanitarian operation.

The head of French diplomacy, Catherine Colonna, wrote in a tweet that the 32-year-old image reporter had been "killed by a Russian bombardment".
