A 19-year-old woman suffered a heavy fall early Monday afternoon during a climbing session in Rochefort-Samson (Drôme).

The victim fell 6 meters, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

The young woman was on "the madness of the zou", a very famous climbing route in the sector.

It is a route "passable, but demanding in sporting terms", according to a local climber interviewed by France 3. The victim would also have fallen on a ledge, a flat space which can aggravate injuries in the event of an accident. even if it helps to break the fall.

A helicopter mobilized

The emergency services immediately moved and a large-scale system involving firefighters and caregivers was put in place.

A civil security helicopter was also mobilized.

The emergency services were still on the spot at the end of the afternoon but were reassuring as to the state of health and the vital prognosis of the victim.

The young woman was finally transported by land to the hospital, with minor injuries.
