The Tarragona Juvenile Court has sentenced a young man to eight years in a specialized center who beat up and gouged out the eyes of a security guard at a hotel in Cambrils on July 6 last year for the crimes of attempted murder. homicide, damages and injuries.

The 62-year-old victim spent almost 80 days in the hospital and was left blind and in a vegetative state from this attack.

The condemned man was 17 years old when he attacked the security guard while suffering from a schizophreniform disorder that caused a severe decrease in his intellectual abilities.

On July 6 last year he was staying with his mother at the hotel when he suffered a psychotic break and started trashing the room.

That's why it was the victim who tried to calm the aggressor.

However, he began to receive a beating with kicks and punches that caused eye injuries among others.

As he did not calm down, Mossos d'Esquadra agents came and one of them, defended by the Uspac union, suffered injuries to his nose and arm when the young man punched him to try to take away his weapon.

The sentence is by conformity and now civil liability must be settled in another hearing in the same court.

The union expressed its satisfaction with the sentence, since the maximum sentence for these crimes in minors is ten years.

The young man is in a closed therapeutic regimen ordered by the court as a result of these crimes

The minor had starred in four violent episodes before his arrest in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
