In detail, the victim (an Arab) stated that he took a taxi from Salah Al-Din Street in Dubai, and after leaving it, he discovered that he had forgotten his leather-made “Louis Vuitton” bag, so he filed a complaint with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, indicating that he trusts that the bag has been forgotten. Inside the taxi, he couldn't reach her.

According to the investigations, the relevant department of the Roads and Transport Authority reviewed the surveillance cameras, and discovered that the two passengers who got into the vehicle after the complainant seized the lost bag, and then the incident was referred to Dubai Police.

For its part, the General Department of Investigation formed a security team, which concluded that the two passengers, from an Arab country, later boarded the taxi and seized the bag, and was able to identify and arrest them.

While the second defendant stated that they saw the bag in the back seat of the taxi, he decided to steal it, and divided the amount that they found inside, but the two accused later retracted their statements before the Criminal Court, noting that they took the bag by mistake, after each thought it belonged to the other. And they asked for clemency.

For its part, after examining the case, the Dubai Criminal Court concluded that the defendants had committed the crime of seizing lost money with the intention of possession, which is punishable by Article 405 of the Penal Code, which stipulates that a person is punished when the money moves from the possession of others to the possession of the offender, either through By accident, or he came into possession of it by accident, so he seized it with the intention of owning it without the knowledge of the victim.

In the rationale for her ruling, she affirmed her confidence in the confessions of the accused in the police and public prosecution stages, and her conviction of the incident, as stated in the investigations, papers and the testimony of the victim, as it is consistent with her that the accused seized with the intention of owning the victim's bag, and that their confession came from a free and conscious will, and from the right The court may consider their confession at any stage of the case, even if they later retract it, when it is satisfied that the confession is correct, that it is in conformity with the truth, and that each of them acknowledges the other’s role in the crime, as well as finding a part of the seized sums with the guidance of the accused themselves.

After examining the incident and taking note of the evidence, the court concluded that the two defendants were convicted, and sentenced each of them to a month's imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 dirhams jointly between them, after which they were expelled from the state.
