Series Sex, money and betrayal in Los Borbones: the docuseries that puts Don Juan Carlos in the spotlight
"We all have one family, but
we Spaniards have two
", is how the script for
Los Borbones, una familia real
begins , the docuseries by
Ana Pastor
and
Aitor Gabilondo
that premiered today on
LaSexta
and Atresplayer.
Throughout six chapters, the series will analyze the figure of Don Juan Carlos with thematic blocks, not temporarily.
Although tonight in the first chapter the figure of Felipe VI's father has been contextualized, talking about his childhood, exile and wedding with Doña Sofía, the most controversial minutes have come with the second installment.
Because in it they have focused on the figure of his commission agent.
Ana Pastor's documentary
orders
and tries to explain things that have already been published on numerous occasions.
Of course, it has
its own very rich archive of images
and the testimony of different journalists who have followed the adventures of Don Juan Carlos for one reason or another.
As explained in that second chapter, the
personal fortune of Don Juan Carlos
begins with
a donation from the Shah of Persia.
As a result of the rise of Felipe González, the father of Felipe VI would have called the Shah to ask him for help to stop socialism.
He responded with a $
10 million
donation.
According to the documentary, that money never reached Suárez's party, but remained in the hands of Don Juan Carlos.
The documentary also explains that that same year Don Juan Carlos called the Saudi king to ask him to finance the Transition.
It materialized with a donation of
36 million
for Spain and a loan of another
50 million
without interest for Don Juan Carlos.
A year later, the Saudis lent Don Juan Carlos another 50 million.
According to the documentary, ten years after those donations, a Saudi prince came to claim the money.
Finally, the debt of Don Juan Carlos was forgiven.
