In an email response to SVT Nyheter Öst, the Swedish Transport Administration writes that there are currently no updated statistics after 2015. But they have now begun to review the figures for the years 2016-2019.
In the years 2003-2015, six road workers died and about 15-20 were injured per year.
Most are injured when working with winter road maintenance.
The vast majority of people who die in traffic accidents are "ordinary" road users.
The authority also writes that a study from 2012 shows that TMA often works well and prevents serious accidents.
