A call for witnesses was launched on Tuesday by the Bas-Rhin gendarmerie after eight people were victims of stings on Saturday evening during the concert of rapper PLK at the Zenith in Strasbourg.

An investigation has been opened to identify the perpetrators, in a context where an unexplained wave of injections is affecting the nightlife in France.

The Bas-Rhin gendarmerie launched an appeal for witnesses on Tuesday after eight people reported being "stung" on Saturday evening during a concert by rapper PLK at the Zenith in Strasbourg.

"An investigation has been launched jointly by the Gendarmerie Brigade (BTA) of Wolfisheim and the Research Brigade (BR) of Strasbourg; this is still in progress in order to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators", indicated the Gendarmerie du Bas-Rhin in a press release.

This specifies that a person had been arrested at the end of the concert "but no element implicating the person concerned was held against him and he was left free".

Anyone with information to communicate on the facts is invited to contact the Wolfisheim gendarmerie or the Strasbourg research brigade.

The Bas-Rhin gendarmerie adds that "discretion in this type of investigation is a guarantee of success and that the presumption of innocence is valid for all people", after "comments, videos, photos" of the person arrested were posted on social media.

The Zenith of Strasbourg, located in the town of Eckbolsheim, in the near suburbs of the Alsatian capital, did not wish to communicate on the number of spectators present for the concert on Saturday evening.

An unexplained wave of stings has affected nightclubs, bars and festivals across the country in recent months, with complaints lodged from Lille to Béziers and from Lorient to Grenoble, via Lyon, Besançon or Valence.
