«Emirati Journalists» wins membership of the Executive Office of the Asian Federation of Journalists

The Emirates Journalists Association has won the membership of the Executive Office of the Asian Federation of Journalists (Asian Pacific Journalists Union), whose founding was announced today.

The seat was won by Mohammed Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Journalists Association, after he submitted his candidacy in the elections that took place this morning during the 31st General Conference of the International Federation of Journalists, which was held in the Omani capital, Muscat.

Al Hammadi said that this victory is an achievement for all journalists in the UAE, and at the same time confirms the position of the Emirati press among the Asian and international press, and reaffirms the role of the Emirates Journalists Association, which is a true partner for press associations and unions in Asia and the world.

Al Hammadi stressed the importance of the association's participation in international conferences related to the press and journalists, with the necessity of youth participation in them in order to develop their journalistic talents and contact the international press.

The delegates participating in the conference will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss the best practices of union work. A special session will also be held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the International Federation of Journalists' Occupational Safety Fund, and to review the most important contributions that the Fund has provided to serve and assist journalists at risk over the past three decades.

The participants will also discuss the work program of the International Federation of Journalists for the period 2022-2025 and vote on its adoption.

The head of the International Federation of Journalists, Younes Mujahid, said: "This conference, which is held once every three years, opens the way for the member unions to meet, discuss the union's work program and elect its new leadership.
