Forty-eight hours after the incidents that punctuated the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool, the British have protested against the version of the French authorities, who have been accusing Reds supporters for two days of having come without or with counterfeit notes.

For two days, France, through its ministers, has been saying the same thing about the incidents that marred the Champions League final: they implicate the counterfeit tickets of Liverpool supporters.

But in England, it's a completely different story.

Testimonies are multiplying across the Channel to denounce the poor management around the stadium and the attitude of the police.

The UK government is calling for a formal investigation into the incidents.

“Treating supporters like animals is unforgivable”

Downing Street has expressed "profound disappointment" at the way England fans have been treated.

"The images seen at the Stade de France are disturbing and heartbreaking," said a spokesperson.

This is also the opinion of Andy Born, MP for Liverpool, who was present in Paris on Saturday evening and who was the first to request the opening of an official investigation into these incidents.

"The police did it very badly, the organizers too. There were big problems on the spot. Some doors were blocked. It was terrible, there is no other word for it. The atmosphere was very hostile. Treating supporters like animals is unforgivable," he said.

The British are up in arms against the version of the French authorities

Especially in England, the version of the French authorities is disputed.

Gérald Darmanin's statement today does not change anything, as evidenced by this journalist from the Liverpool Echo.

"Accusing the fans of being late to put the blame on fans who had fake tickets is nonsense. I was there from 6 p.m. and I did not observe anything like that. 'there was no sign of any mess to come,' he told English television
