Tried in immediate appearance on Friday, a 34-year-old man was sentenced to seven months in prison with continued detention.

He was found guilty of violence against his partner, reports L'Union.

Sunday, May 22, an argument broke out at the couple's home in Reims (Marne).

“It was a normal argument”

The defendant insulted the victim then violently shoved her while she was holding a ten-month-old baby in her arms.

The woman also threw the infant on the sofa to prevent him from being injured.

The 30-year-old was also violent towards a young girl who wanted to intervene.

Alerted, the police intervened at their home and arrested him.

During the trial, the defendant admitted to being at the origin of the violence but tried to minimize the facts.

"It was a normal argument," he said.

Besides the prison sentence, the court also decided to revoke his six-month reprieve.

The man had already been sentenced for the same facts towards his partner in May 2020. He is also prohibited from coming into contact with her for two years.
