“At present, no compromise has been reached… We are in a difficult situation due to the irresponsible actions of the European Commission,” Orban said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

He noted that when approving the previous five pacts of sanctions, the EU first accepted the restrictions, and then thought about the consequences.

“Now we are talking about energy, it is risky, seriously.

We need to change our approach - first decisions, then sanctions.

So far, there are no decisions,” the politician said.

According to the Hungarian prime minister, the EC's proposals for an oil embargo were not properly discussed with EU member states.

“The European Commission is responsible for the lack of an agreement,” Orban concluded.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the European Commission had proposed to the authorities of the EU member states to postpone the embargo on Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó noted that Hungary's refusal of anti-Russian sanctions on oil and gas was dictated by the interests of protecting the country's energy security.
