How to vote?

Which parties are in the running?

Presented as the "third round" of the presidential election, the legislative elections will be held on Sundays June 12 and 19.

577 deputy seats are to be filled.

In 2017, La République en Marche won the election, obtaining an absolute majority (set at 290 seats), with 308 seats.

How are legislative elections conducted?

Less than two weeks before the ballot, which will be held on Sunday June 12 and 19, Europe 1 goes around all the information you need to know before going to drop off your ballot in the ballot box.

These elections, presented as the "third round" of the presidential election, will be used to elect 577 deputies.

Who votes in the legislative elections?

To vote in the legislative elections, you must be of French nationality, be aged 18 or over, be registered on the electoral lists and enjoy your civil and political rights.

For French nationals abroad: the election takes place on Sundays June 4 and 19, 2022 outside the American zone and on Saturdays June 4 and 18, 2022 in embassies and consular posts located on the American continent.

Who is elected to the legislature?

Voters are called to the polls to elect 577 deputies, their representatives in the National Assembly, one of the two institutions that make up Parliament.

The second institution is the Senate, for which separate elections are organised, with a specific voting system.

Deputies have two main missions: legislative work (create, table, examine, modify and vote on laws) and control of the government (questions to the government, motions of censure, commissions of inquiry, vote of confidence, etc.).

For these elections, 6,293 candidates are on the starting line for the first round of legislative elections, which is 20% less than in 2017.

What are the main parties in the running?

The main political forces presenting candidates are Together, made up of the current presidential majority with La République en Marche (now Renaissance), the Modem of François Bayrou, the party of Édouard Philippe Horizons, and Agir.

Then there is the alliance concluded on the left for the legislative elections, the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), made up of La France insoumise, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party and EELV.

The National Rally (RN) is also on the starting line, as well as Les Républicains (LR).

The far right will also be represented by Eric Zemmour's party, Reconquest.

What is a constituency?

Each deputy is elected within a legislative constituency.

There are therefore 577 elections, one in each constituency.

The contours of the constituencies were last modified in 2010: there are currently 539 constituencies in metropolitan France (there is at least one per department, with approximately 125,000 inhabitants in each), 27 overseas and 11 to destination French people abroad.

Do I need an electoral card to vote?

The presentation of the electoral card is not an obligation to vote.

On D-Day, you must prove your identity in order to be able to deposit your ballot in the ballot box.
