The administrations of private schools reported that the current period allocated for student registration for the next academic year is witnessing a significant increase in families' interest in enrolling their children in kindergarten.

School administrations informed "Emirates Today" that enrollment rates in "KG1" and "KG2" exceeded 100%, compared to the previous and current academic year, which witnessed the "Corona" pandemic, while students' parents confirmed that they were keen to register their children in the kindergarten stage, because Attendance education is better for students at this stage, than virtual education.

The Vice President for Education at GEMS Education Group and Director of GEMS Gulf International School, Ghadeer Abu Shamit, said that the kindergarten stage is an essential stage that lays the foundations for students' future lives.

She added, "We have seen an increasing demand for registration in the kindergarten stage after the end of the "Covid-19" pandemic period, by more than 60%, compared to the previous two years."

She pointed out that families realized the importance of engaging in the school community for the first grades in terms of social, academic, psychological and intellectual aspects.

Director of the Examinations and Assessment Department at the School of Knowledge, Manal Marei, said that enrollment in kindergartens has increased by 100%, compared to the past two years.

She attributed the high demand for students' enrollment in kindergartens to the conviction of children's parents about the importance of direct education for students at a young age.

She stressed that private schools are competing to promote public health and safety and quality education for their students, pointing out that the high demand for students to register in kindergartens for the next academic year has led to waiting lists.

She pointed out that children in the kindergarten stage do not comprehend the study through visual devices.

Khaled Attia (father of two students) said: “I have a girl in the fourth grade, whose tuition fees are 20 thousand dirhams, in addition to bus fees, and daily expenses, and in light of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the labor market, our salaries were affected, and I could not afford this cost, so I decided to transfer My daughter is going to a school whose fees are lower.”

He added that the enrollment of a second son in school would have doubled the required amounts, and the salary does not meet these expenses, and therefore he decided not to enroll the child in (KG2), and wait for him to be enrolled in the first grade in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Hiam Muhammad (Taleb's mother) stated that "we did not know the form of education this year, whether it would be in person or from a distance," stressing that her son did not absorb anything, if it was distance education for kindergarten.

And she continued, "I registered for my son for the next school year in (KG2), for several reasons, the most important of which is the decline of the Corona pandemic, and the improvement of salaries, in addition to the fact that the child did not learn anything during distance education."

Sally Fouad (the mother of a child) stated that her daughter's enrollment at this stage in the presence education greatly affects her level and educational attainment later, so she gave up the idea of attending school for the last academic year.

For her part, the deputy director of a private school, who preferred not to be named, confirmed that the registration of students in the kindergarten stage witnessed a decline during the period of the Corona pandemic, pointing out that the decline in the rate of registration for the kindergarten stage came due to the impact of families’ income from the repercussions of the pandemic, which prompted them to Not registering her children at this stage.

She added: "Registration at the school is currently witnessing a great demand in all grades, especially the kindergarten stage."
