For two days, rescuers tried everything, but nothing worked.

The lost orca is too weak, and cannot leave the Seine to return to the sea.

Lack of liveliness, erratic behavior.

Vocalizations betraying great stress and distress, apathy, which leaves no choice but to euthanize him.

This is explained by the prefecture of Seine-Maritime this Sunday.

A sick animal

The animal had been seen for the first time two weeks ago, between Honfleur and Le Havre, visibly lost, far from its congeners.

And for good reason, he would suffer from mucormycosis, a disease that affects marine mammals.

He would be at an advanced stage which is causing him great suffering.

His fate moved the inhabitants of the region, who came to see him in large numbers.

Even if mucormycosis is not transmissible to humans, the authorities still preferred to take every precaution by prohibiting swimming and fishing in the waters where the killer whale swam.
