On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, around 1:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot and killed in Nice as part of a probable settling of accounts, the Nice prosecutor's office said on Thursday.
An investigation in flagrance for intentional homicide with premeditation was opened and entrusted to the judicial police.
"The victim was alone on a stolen scooter and landed when another individual also on a scooter came up to him and shot him a 9mm bullet in the head before leaving," said Parvine Derivery, assistant prosecutor.
“It is obviously a settling of accounts, the circumstances of the homicide leave little doubt on this point”, further noted the magistrate.
An attempted homicide two years earlier
The victim, born in 1994, is of Russian nationality.
She was known to the justice services but not for a history of drug trafficking.
On the other hand, she had already been the subject in 2020 of an attempted homicide with a Kalashnikov which had injured her in the leg.
The facts occurred in front of a residence in the east of Nice where there is a large Chechen community, some of whose representatives had complained two years ago of seeing their city plagued by drug trafficking.
