In accordance with the law, the Russian government is vested with the authority to make decisions on the issue of establishing "control figures for admission to study at the expense of the budgetary allocations of the federal budget in areas of higher education for master's programs."

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved an increase in the number of budget places for master's programs.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov said that an additional 30,000 state-funded places will be allocated in Russian universities for graduate students.
