- There will be work a bit everywhere and E4 is the artery.

On Sunday, we will start signposting to start work from Mjölby west down to Väderstad next week, says Johan Andersson, maintenance engineer at the Swedish Transport Administration in Östergötland.

This work means that southbound traffic is diverted to northbound lanes.

Week 23, the paving work continues south of Väderstad in a southerly direction.

Night work

The work that has already been done for a few weeks at Norsholm will be ready by midsummer.

The jobs performed in weeks 23 to 28 will be conducted at night to reduce the impact on traffic.

Those projects include: A large bridge work on the Svartån river between Mantorp and Mjölby.

One at Stångån outside Linköping in a northerly direction.

One between Loddby and Björnsnäs, north of Norrköping.

And from August onwards, work on the Norsholm Bridge.

- We believe and hope that it will not affect much when we work at night.

But we only get half as far as if we worked during the day.

Day jobs

Week 23 and 24, however, the work takes place during the day, starting at 09, at the western entrance to Linköping.

- Here we have chosen to let the road user get to work undisturbed, but when you go home there can be some disturbances.

The following week, a contractor will pave in a northbound direction between Väderstad and Mjölby.

Week 34 work begins on a bridge between Mjölby and Mantorp.

In the video below, we visit a road work on the E4 in 1960. It is certainly not in Östergötland, but well close ...
