For loan students who graduated in 2022 and previous years, the principal of the national student loan that should be repaid in 2022 can be deferred for 1 year after the loan student applies independently. The deferred loan does not include penalty interest and compound interest, and the risk classification will not be lowered for the time being.
Loan students who fail to repay in time due to reasons affected by the epidemic, such as being hospitalized or quarantined for COVID-19, requiring isolation or observation for epidemic prevention, participating in epidemic prevention and control, and having no source of income affected by the epidemic, etc., will be recognized by the loan undertaking bank and the relevant overdue loan will be confirmed Overdue records may not be submitted.
According to the introduction of the relevant person in charge of the Department of Science, Education and Culture of the Ministry of Finance on the 28th, the introduction of the above measures is expected to reduce or exempt more than 2 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) in interest, and can apply for deferred repayment of more than 5 billion yuan of principal, which will help ease loan students.
