France: tensions in Paris around the Champions League final

Intrusion attempts, tear gas, spectators unable to enter… The Champions League final won 1-0 by Real Madrid against Liverpool was marred by tensions around the Stade de France.

While the match was scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m., the players had to wait almost 40 minutes later to kick the ball for the first time.

Around the Stade de France, in the north of Paris, the long-awaited party for this legendary final was somewhat marred by tensions.
Tear gas was fired by the security forces to prevent young people from climbing the barriers surrounding the stadium.
According to AFP, at least several dozen people managed to sneak over the gates.
A total of 6,800 police and military personnel are mobilized for the event.

At the time of kick-off, several dozen supporters with tickets had not been able to enter the stadium.

To accommodate the tens of thousands of supporters who came to see the match, “fan zones” have been set up in the capital.
The Cours de Vincennes, in the 12th arrondissement, welcomes Liverpool supporters while the Spaniards have been invited to the Legion of Honor park in Saint-Denis.
Clashes with police were also reported to Nation.
Near the Liverpool fan zone in Nation, in the center of the capital, the situation also degenerated and scuffles reached the terraces of certain cafes.
