In addition to the new station building, a larger track area, shops, restaurants and more office space in the area are also planned.
The bicycle parking building will be moved and the central passage will be expanded with a tunnel towards Vretgränd.
But it has only been just over ten years since the current central station was completed.
- Travel has increased more than expected.
We expect a double travel by 2050, explains Michael Eriksson.
Did you make a mistake when you built the station building then?
- Not a mistake, but they did not have all the parameters for the future clear to them.
Our goal now is to take a grip until 2050 so that it will last over time.

The municipal board will make a decision on the new development plan on June 15, and work on detailed plans will begin as soon as the plan is approved.
In the new plans, the name Uppsala resecentrum has been changed to Uppsala C.
