Gerona Kills his wife and daughter and commits suicide by hanging himself in his house in Lloret de Mar
A woman has been murdered in the Almeria municipality of Tíjola by her husband, who
has confessed to the crime and has turned himself in to the Vera Local Police.
The delegate of the Government in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has confirmed the "tragic and violent" death of this woman and has explained that all the indications point to this being
a new case of sexist violence
, which is being investigated by the Civil Guard.
The mayor of this town, José Juan Martínez, explained to Efe that it was
one of the couple's two children
who found the lifeless body of his mother at around 3:30 p.m. this Friday, at the home of the family in the center of Tíjola.
Martínez has indicated that the house remains sealed by the Civil Guard, while agents of the Judicial Police of the armed institute are working at the scene.
As indicated,
the woman was about 50 years old and her husband a couple of years older
, as well as that the couple has two children aged 22 and 19.
It is
a "lifelong" family of the people
, she has emphasized.
In some statements sent to the media, and after deeply regretting the facts, Fernández has pointed out that there is no record in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of gender violence (VioGen), so
there were no previous complaints of bad treatment or any measure
that "had been adopted in such a possible circumstance".
If the sexist nature of the crime is confirmed, this
would be the third victim this year in Andalusia
, number 16 in all of Spain so far this year and number 1,145 since 2003.
The City Council has announced that today at 12:00
a minute of silence
will be observed in memory of the victim.
