On May 26, local time, Ukrainian media released a video saying that the wreckage of the An-225 transport plane was towed from the Gostomeli Airport by the Ukrainian side.
An-225 codenamed "Mriya", which means "dream" in Russian, is the largest transport aircraft in the world. It was born in the Soviet Union and completed its first test flight in December 1988.
Due to lack of funds, only two An-225s were produced, and the second was only half built.
The An-225 is 84 meters long and more than 18 meters high. It is powered by 6 engines and has a maximum load of 250 tons. It is known as the "Big Mac in the Air"; it also has a long endurance capability, even under full load. It can continue to fly about 2500 kilometers under the circumstances.
After the global outbreak of the new crown epidemic, An-225 came to Huawei many times to deliver epidemic prevention materials to many countries.
At the beginning of February this year, An-225 also visited China five times and landed at Tianjin Airport to carry out the mission of transporting epidemic prevention materials.
After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the An-225 was destroyed in the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he plans to raise $800 million to build a second An-225.
