Incoherent remarks, the terrorist track dismissed

The assailant had stabbed the victim several times, including one near the heart.

Known to the police for narcotics cases, this man, of French nationality, had made incoherent remarks, invoking "God" and "the Devil".

He had been overpowered by passers-by while awaiting the intervention of the police and his arrest.

The terrorist track had been quickly ruled out.

Benoît Payan, mayor of Marseille, reacted Friday "with immense sadness" on Twitter, learning of the death of this father of two children attending kindergarten and primary school.

I learn of his death with great sadness.

All our support and all my thoughts go out to his family, loved ones, the Sévigné college community and his companions at the Laveran military hospital.
