The discussion regarding the name change on the street arose in the light of the debate that arose at Karolinska Institutet (KI) where people active in racial biology had streets and halls named after them.

After a period of debate, KI chose to change the names of the streets and halls.

The decision was made

A similar message was also given by Gällivare Municipality's Environment, Construction and Rescue Committee at its most recent meeting.

In the proposal that they will hand over to the municipality's officials, the committee states that they will henceforth be called Agda Rösselsgata.

Worked with human rights

Agda Rössel, who hails from Gällivare, is known for her work with human rights and has, among other things, been active at the United Nations (UN) as Sweden's ambassador.

She is also known as the first woman to hold that position.

- Wow, that's great.

It could not be a better name for a street, says citizen initiator Kerstin Andersson.

Agda Rössel gets a street named after her in Gällivare.
