Park Ji-hyeon, co-chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "I sincerely apologize to the Democratic candidates who are working hard" in relation to the '86 group resignation theory' that he recently argued.

In a post on social media, Chairman Park said, "I apologize for holding a press conference without sufficiently consulting with all of the party leadership."

He added, "I will be sweetly pointed out that there was a lack of efforts to achieve a broader consensus," he said.

Earlier, Chairman Park held an emergency press conference on the 24th and said, "I will announce within the week after sufficient internal discussion about what kind of process to go through in order to move forward as a young Democratic Party, such as retirement from 86."

However, there was confusion within the party, as Chairman Yoon drew a line saying, “It has never been discussed (with the leadership),” and even among members of the party, there were criticisms that “Chairman Park’s method was wrong.”

In this situation, it is interpreted that Chairman Park apologized and showed his will to close the controversy.

Chairman Park said, "There seems to be a misunderstanding in the 586's 'beautiful exit' remarks I mentioned. I am not saying that all 586 candidates should resign, nor that 586 candidates running in the local elections should resign. It means that the 586 that can't meet the requirements will step down, and the remaining 586 will have to change their roles."

Chairman Park, nevertheless, said, "I make an earnest appeal once again. I hope that our party will come up with a reform plan so that it can win the love of the people again and announce it to the people." It is essential for that,” he said.

He also pointed out, "We need to break with violent fandom politics," and pointed out that "in some cases, fandom politics is overrepresenting our party members."
