A 38-year-old man was sentenced on Wednesday by the Finistère Assize Court to 16 years in prison.
The accused was tried for the murder of his wife on the night of October 5 to 6, 2019 in Saint-Martin-des-Champs, near Morlaix.
The Advocate General had requested a prison sentence of 18 years.
Children present at home
The victim, a 33-year-old stay-at-home mom, was found strangled to death in her home.
The orderly had called the police during the night to report the death of his wife.
He was under the influence of a blood alcohol level of 1.12 g per liter of blood.
The couple's four children, aged two to ten at the time of the tragedy, were present at the home when it happened.
In addition to his prison sentence, the man was deprived of his parental authority.
