How to create the house that makes us feel good?

Whether we are a fan of decoration or not, we are often not aware of the place that our home takes in our lives.

In "Bienfait pour vous", Estelle Quicili, interior decorator and Jean-Gabriel Causse, designer, guide you to create the decoration that suits you.

"Tell me where you live and I'll tell you who you are".

Choice of colors, arrangement of furniture and objects, lights... Unconsciously, our interior is completely the extension of who we are, and what we feel.

At least that is the opinion of Estelle Quicili, the guest of Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez, interior designer and author of

The Decoration of Emotions

.

However, it is sometimes difficult to feel good at home, especially after a recent move.

So what are the keys to best decorating your interior?

Choose the right colors according to your emotional needs

One of the first keys is hidden behind neuroscience.

According to Jean-Gabriel Causse, designer and author of the book

Les couleurs invisibles

, the flatness of a given color activates a specific area of the brain and therefore has a direct influence on our mood.

Pink has a calming power, blue calls for daydreaming and creativity.

The decoration sector is doing well: we have never taken so much care of our homes

"When you look at orange, for example, you activate the language area. So orange is the color of communication par excellence. (…) So in an interior, for example, for couples who do not communicate well or not very much, it can be good”, explains the specialist.

Colors, also an aid for stimulating brain activity

But what matters above all is to have a wide chromatic palette to, first of all, avoid getting tired of one color, but also to stay stimulated.

"Not so long ago, a few thousand years ago, we lived in nature, so we lived in an extraordinary richness of colors. Just take the example of the dungeons: they were designed to deprive people of light and color. When you live outside of color, you live badly", explains Jean-Gabriel Causse.

In this logic according to the expert, we work less well in an all-white office, which is neither "activating" nor relaxing.

"And besides, if you look, everyone who works in white open spaces always tends to bring a plant, postcards, etc. Why? Because precisely, unconsciously, we need these colors. colors that make us active, like warm colors or more relaxing colors, like cool colors," he adds.

Have a light hand on patterned decoration

To brighten up a room there is obviously not only colors.

Budding decorators can use paintings, photos, wallpapers or design objects.

But be careful not to abuse it.

"Unlike colours, a wallpaper is equal to a message. So you shouldn't multiply them, otherwise you'll have a little headache at the end", warns Estelle Quicili.

According to the decorator, the choice of wallpaper is like that of a painting: one per room maximum, avoiding that it comes into conflict with other patterns, such as those of a floor.

But what works is the mix of styles, especially with accessories.
