“The main goal of the maneuvers is to strengthen the defense capability of Finland,” TASS betrays the words of the military department of the country.

It is specified that the plan provides for eight additional exercises.

“Cooperation will be intensified with the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, France, Germany, Norway, as well as with NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) group of countries,” the message says.

Most of the exercises will take place in Finland.

Some of them are planned to be held on the territory of partner countries.

Earlier it was reported that US and French warships would arrive in Helsinki for exercises to be held in the northern part of the Baltic Sea.

The intention of Finland and Sweden to become members of the North Atlantic Alliance was previously reported.

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said that in the event of the expansion of NATO's military infrastructure in Finland and Sweden, Russia would be obliged to respond.
