The opposition and opposition parties continued to discuss this year's second supplementary budget, but failed to reach an agreement, and the plenary session was canceled today (27th).

The opposition and opposition parties decided to continue discussions over the weekend to handle the supplementary budget bill before the 6/1 local election, which was originally targeted, and tentatively agreed to hold the plenary session tomorrow (28th) at 8:00 pm.

After the '3+3' floor leadership luncheon meeting today, the opposition and opposition parties held discussions between the floor leaders of both parties and the Minister of Strategy and Finance, Chu Kyung-ho, but they were unable to narrow their differences on key issues such as retroactive application of compensation for corona losses.

The Power of the People and the government are of the position that the payment of up to 10 million won in compensation for losses contained in this supplementary budget is equivalent to retroactive application, but the Democratic Party insists that the 8 trillion won budget for retroactive application of compensation for corona losses should be newly reflected.

In addition, no agreement could be reached on matters such as measures to compensate for the income reversal of companies with small sales growth, complementation of equity for workers in blind spots, and debt adjustment for small business owners.

In order to process the supplementary budget bill before the local elections, all procedures must be completed within 29 days of the end of the term of the current National Assembly Speaker.

People's Power Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong met with reporters at the National Assembly after negotiations broke down today and said, "If it is not possible to hold a plenary session tomorrow evening, we cannot but rule out the possibility that it will be held on Sunday (29th)." We plan to further narrow down the process and collect opinions internally,” he said.
