Ajman Civil Defense published a number of preventive measures prepared by the General Civil Defense regarding the causes of car fires and the safety measures followed to avoid them.

The Civil Defense stated that the rate of car fires increased in recent years during the summer period, which resulted in human and material losses, so all safety and security measures must be taken to avoid falling into such accidents.

The Civil Defense explained that the causes of car fires are: failure to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance of the vehicle, and high engine temperature is an element that leads to the occurrence of fire, as well as leaving flammable materials in the vehicle (lighters, perfumes and sterilization packages), in addition to that car accidents may cause fires.

The Civil Defense identified 6 measures to avoid car fires: daily monitoring of water and engine oil cooling rates, periodic maintenance by a specialized technician, abstaining from smoking and stopping the engine when refueling the vehicle.

The measures also included: closing the fuel tank cap tightly to prevent leakage and avoiding the risk of ignition, keeping an appropriate fire extinguisher and training in its use in case of an accident, and keeping and training in the use of a first aid kit.
