China News Service, Beijing, May 26 (Reporter Zhang Weiran) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference on May 26.

A reporter asked: On the 26th local time, the UN Security Council will vote on tightening sanctions against the DPRK regarding the launch of ballistic missiles by the DPRK. Does China hold any objection to this?

Wang Wenbin: China always believes that the UN Security Council should play a positive and constructive role on the Korean Peninsula issue.

Sanctions are a means, not an end, and should serve the goal of politically resolving the Korean Peninsula issue.

We hope that all parties in the Security Council will stick to the general direction of political settlement and actively seek a way out of the deadlock.
