Thyroidectomy is among the largest in the history of medical records

Doctors at Tawam Hospital succeeded in removing a thyroid gland, which is among the largest medical cases ever recorded.

After conducting further diagnoses and examinations, doctors discovered an irregular thyroid gland in a 44-year-old patient.

The gland was severely enlarged, pressing on the larynx, hypopharynx, and esophagus. The gland was pressing on the trachea and surrounding it and the entire larynx, causing increased activity through irregular hormones, and the size of the enlarged gland caused by a medical condition called goiter reached 15 cm by 30 cm.

The doctors performed a unique and complex medical surgery that required the highest level of coordination and cooperation between a team of experts that included anesthesiologists, endocrinologists, ear, nose and throat specialists, as well as the use of various equipment, including nerve monitors, and the patient was discharged from the hospital after only six days.
