Lots of dying and dead crayfish have been found.

It is mainly the lower parts of the river that are affected, but also central Skellefteå.

- It's sad, especially that a lot of crayfish die.

There are dead or dying even in the city center, says Mattias Varg.

Skellefteå municipality has not received a response to the forthcoming lab yet that it is about cancer plague, but expects information this week.

Now people are urged to be extremely careful as it is very contagious.

- It's good that people get to know this.

Partly because you will see dead crayfish, but also because you will not pass on the infection.

Use rubbing alcohol on the boots

It is a parasite that is spread via spores in the water.

Private individuals are now advised not to move boats, jet skis, fishing rods, swimwear, boots or anything else that has been in contact with the water to a new watercourse.

- Then the infection follows to the next watercourse.

It is very contagious.

What do you do if you want to remove the infection from, for example, a fishing rod?

- The spores die after a few days in the drought, or a day in the freezer.

You can also use rubbing alcohol or t-red and spray on fishing rods or boots.
