The question of how much of the profits from wind power should stay with the municipalities that have set up land areas is currently being investigated on behalf of the government.

The idea is that the municipalities will become more benevolent to wind power and not use their right of veto against establishments.

But the directives for the investigation are too vague, says Helena Lindahl (C), who also thinks that the investigation should apply to the profits from hydropower.

- Throughout the years, we have functioned as a colony for the rest of the country and delivered electricity.

The only problem is that we have not been paid for it and now it must be over, says Helena Lindahl (C) who is also the party's business policy spokesperson.

Strandhäll believes in the investigation

She thinks that the rapid investigation appointed by the government must contain clearer directives which mean that the profits from both wind and water will give a real plus in the municipalities' finances.

But Minister of Climate and Environment Annika Strandhäll (S) defends the work with the rapid investigation.

- I have great confidence that the investigator will come up with wise proposals that contribute to increased electricity production and that we can cope with the climate.

Learning from other systems, including a local budget for hydropower, is an important part of the investigation, says Annika Strandhäll in a written comment to SVT Nyheter Västerbotten.
