China News Service, May 25. According to Agence France-Presse, on the 25th local time, the European Union proposed new rules aimed at making it harder for Russian oligarchs to evade sanctions and paving the way for the seizure of their assets.

"It is critical that the EU's restrictive measures are fully implemented, and violations of these measures must not be allowed to succeed," the European Commission said in a statement.

"Today's proposal is designed to ensure effective future confiscation of assets from individuals and entities violating restrictions," the statement said.

European Commission Vice-President Julova said that breaching EU sanctions is a serious crime that must have serious consequences, and "we need EU-wide rules to determine this".

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the United States and the European Union have imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Russia, covering fields such as economy, trade, energy, science and technology, and finance.

Earlier in April, the US National Security Adviser Sullivan said the US was ready to take new measures to combat Russia's evasion of sanctions.
