“Negotiations must begin in the next two months, otherwise shocks are coming and tensions will be created that will not be easy to overcome,” the diplomat said.

According to the newspaper, Kissinger thus actually called on the West to put pressure on Ukraine to agree to negotiations on terms that are "very far from its current military goals."

Earlier, Kissinger said that the ideal outcome in the current situation in Ukraine should be the achievement of a neutral status of the country so that it could become a bridge between Russia and Europe.

Deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Rudenko said that Russia is ready to return to negotiations with Ukraine as soon as Kyiv shows a constructive approach.
